Birthdays are very important.
The best present I ever got for The Man Who Brought Me Up was when I made him a garden throne out of logs and bought some fungus plugs online so that by the next birthday it was covered in Chicken of the Woods and Shiitake.
It looked very good, and, unlike me, he eats mushrooms. He’s never read any H P Lovecraft.
