Italy really is Jonti Bloom’s spiritual home:
- The best cars
- The best food
- The best clothes
- The best women
- The best football
And it’s acceptable for you to live with your mum past the age of 30.

Always a sensitive film-maker and seeker of truth, I feel that I may be touching sensitive areas. And paying for quite a lot.

When I first started out as a documentary film maker I made a list of things I would never do even for a great story:
1. Put the lives of my immediate family in danger
2. The human trafficking of children
3. Have sex with a woman who marks less than 4/10
4. Black up in inner city areas
5. Sleep rough
6. Eat directly from a tin.
Looks like I’m going to have to revise the last two.

Carston has a knife with a pig on it. When he first landed in Spain he only
ate things he killed under his own steam, like dogs and seagulls and once a
horse when he was desperate. This is why he values luxury now, he says.

As a documentary filmmaker, there are two holy grails: Sex and Death.
And here we have the dead daughter of europe’s most prolific sperm donor. I let out a small whoop of delight in the cemetery. Luckily I think only my sound recordist heard.

As a child, Sunday mornings were sacred in our house. Without fail, the whole family would gather together and watch Little House on the Prairie. It was a familiar scene with me on the bean bag and mum on the recliner, taking the weight off her gammy leg.
I remember one such morning with lung stinging clarity. Nellie Oleson slipped on a pig at the fair and had a tantrum. Charles Ingalls advised “When life throws you a lemon, Nellie, make some lemonade”. Mum said “Now there’s a lesson to live your life by”. And I have.
But sometimes, only on my darker days mind, I get tired of manufacturing gassy liquids. I don’t always want to roll with the punches, dust myself off and start all over again. Sometimes, I just feel a bit sad.
Love & Light,
Dawn

People ask me to describe my poetry. I tell them it’s pointless. How can you explain in words what’s felt in feelings?
I can’t predict what each individual’s reaction will be. Some cry, some dance. One man repeatedly hit himself in the face with a brick.
Either way, they’re feeling something and in today’s emotionally lethargic, post-Kilroy society, surely that’s the greatest gift if all?
Love & light,
Dawn
