The greatest gift of all is simply to love. To love without judgement, without question, without boundaries. Maybe some boundaries are necessary , just to avoid abuse. This is the gift I give to my siblings.
Simply love. The healthy kind.

It’s all just got a little bit SPICEY!
Ian takes a look at their first sibling on the list, turns white as a sheet and starts stammering ‘I kn-kn-kn-know her. I KNOW her.’
In the biblical sense?! Is that what he’s saying? Has this bloke…with his own sister?!

We’re in Brighton, the gay capital of Europe, and that Ian’s wandering around talking loudly about his new daddy.
I should inform my more conservative viewers that a ‘daddy’ in gay terminology is the word for an older homosexual who favours the younger ones. I know this not because I’m a gay myself (some people have called me a ‘ladies man’) but because as a documentary maker it’s important to communicate with all types. I also have a smattering of patois and bits of Yiddish. You never know….
Anyway, suffice to say Ian made a few heads turn with that chat.

Jonti Bloom travels light. In my Karrimor Panther Alpine Rucksack, you’ll find just a few essentials to see me through the trip. But Ian takes the mickey. He’s come on board with just a plug-in globe and a pair of Y-fronts.
A passport might come in handy abroad!

Imagine an orphaned puppy. A little runty one. No one wants to buy the runty puppy and it stays in the petshop window until it becomes an adult.
Then it dies. Still in the window. Tragic? Not compared to my day. Who can come through at a time like this? I’ll tell you who. Family.

My fingers tremble as I type this, the screen is blurred by tears. Today, for the very first time I met my brother, my kin, my Ian. It was a little disappointing. I would like to go into greater detail but I am emotionally spent.

‘The 27 siblings I never knew I had’ was the headline that miraculously landed on my desk. A couple of phone calls later and Jonti Bloom’s bagged himself another all-expenses paid trip in the name of light entertainment.
